they have ben at war since the late 80's, I don't know about civil maybe religious.

BTW, what is civil about war in the first place. "I believe this, anyone against me is my enemy."

I would agree with you, but the middle east has been in a religious conflict since the middle ages.

I picked the 3rd option because unless you define "civil war" it's all just a matter of opinion.

And what difference does it make what you call it?

i would agree on that when ever the kurdish uprising began. The sunni and shite arent exactly on great terms in saddams regime it was just a simmering feud, now its to a boiling point. See above comment. Now that its a civil war we can be "atfault" like they were so well behaved even under saddams iron fisted dictatorship there was rampant killings and revenge killings, and hatefield and mcCoy shit going on for years, and ethnic cleansing. Now every 20 something college kid who cant remember the 80s (i was in elemetry school/ middle school but read the paper even then) can blame the US for the blood shed there. Its all our fault down with america

I have to agree here, the difference being is that I was there in the late 8o's in the US Navy escorting oil tankers through the Suez canal, 6 month's after the USS Cole was hit in port.

But we are there, and whatever is happening now if a result of us being there. Sure, there was hatered and fighting and other bad things happening under Saddam. It was only because of his "iron fisted" type of government that it didn't happen before. What made anyone think, once that "iron fist" was removed, that it wouldn't collapse into chaos is beyond me.
