Default Anyone Ever Been To Neebish Island?

I saw there was another thread about some island. Anyone ever go to Neebish Island East of the UP?

The wife and I are both off this weekend and are contemplating a trip up there. It looks like it may be just a bunch of 2-tracks. We are both boatnerds so we can kinda put 2 nobbies together.

Since we're on the subject, anyone been over to Beaver Island to wheel lately? Its been over 10 years for me and I'm sure things have changed. One of the only places you could drive for miles on the beach and lots of dunes. DNR probably restricted access now?

Neebish Island. Not much there, and not very big. I doubt you'll find any wheeling, but have fun if you go there anyhow!

There was an article in 4 Wheel & Offroad about great places readers recommended to wheel. A guy from Caledonia wrote in about going there. I am contemplating on that being the destination of our MI trip next Summer. I guess you have to put in quite a ways ahead of time for the ferry though. The article didn't say anything about it being closed off.

Back in 1976 I lived in the UP.( going to college), wheeled on Neebish once or twice. Tow tracks cris cross the island. We were going down a twotrack and drove into someones front yard. Met the home owner, about 80 at that time and we talked to him for hours. The guy lived there his whole life. He had a model A in his barn. That was a neet trip.
