Other than the addition of a 6.4L Hemi, which can be found also in the SRT Grand Cherokee, I don't see much special about the Power Wagon.

I think it's a mistake that the 6.7L Cummins is NOT available in the Power Wagon, but only in the standard 2500.

I guess I just find it interesting that Dodge is taking on the Raptor with a big ole' 3/4 ton platform. I think they'd have been better off redesigning the TRX-4 Package in the 1/2 tons to be more competitive with Raptor.

This thing looks like it could hold it's own off the road, but in the blink of an eye it doesn't have much to seperate it from a standard 2500 RAM

I've always thought they were kinda cool, but I'd never buy one. This one needs a rollbar with kc lights.

This.

It wouldn't wheel any better with the cummins but it would be a perfect dd/tow rig imo.

Chrysler would love to do a 6.7l cummins in a power wagon but they have packaging issues with the intercooler on the diesel and the winch in the front bumper.

Dale probably test drove it. And it was a '15, not a '14.

I don't think they are at all taking on the Raptor with this. The Power Wagon has been around quite a while, and isn't exactly taking on the new guy, it is just getting a bit more refined at what it was designed for.

According to the article, it is getting a link/coil rear suspension, a three link front suspension, and a 6.4 engine, while carrying over the 4.56 locking diffs, sway bar disconnect, and winch, among other smaller things. That's pretty noteworthy stuff.

It's certainly not a direct competitor, I still just can't agree with basing the off-road platform off a 3/4 ton. I still think the TRX-4 Package in a 1/2 ton would have offered more potential, and the Power Ram could have stayed an off-road capable truck with the primary purpose of being a tow rig.

And I didn't mean to imply it didn't have much separating it from a standard 2500 mechanically, I was more saying cosmetically. The Raptor has cosmetics that separate it from the F-150.

I think now-a-days most guys who can afford to buy a truck like this or the Raptor want everyone in the world to know what they have, rather than wait for someone to ask so they can tell them all the details. You know a Raptor when you see one, but this would pass as a normal 3/4 ton RAM to a passerby. I'm OK with that, but I think some will just opt to buy the cheaper.

Meh, power wagons have been out for years and they still are making them. There must be a niche for them in the market and are doing something right by selling them. I thought I remembered reading something about a 1/2 ton ram alternative to the raptor coming out. Maybe it's a dealer conversion or something. I wouldn't ever buy a raptor or the like because I couldn't fathom taking my 50k truck out and beating on it. Why use it as a pickup when the tow rating is lower than your average f150 and costs more? I would take any of these as gifts though.
