Default Need help with 6al wiring.

Ok this 6al box is driving me nuts. If you guys could help me with what should be a basic thing it would be great.

The 6al ground is the alternator bracket where the negative battery cable connects to essentially connecting the ground directly to the battery ground without adding any length to the wiring.

There is a wire from the key going to the fuse box that receives 12 volts. It actually reads around 11.87 with the key on and 0 with the key off. It is before the fuse box and is what feeds all the accessories. This is what I used as my power on.

I originally had the 12 volt wire run directly to the starter positive terminal. I was getting run on conditions. I cut and installed the 100A resistor included with the 6al in the brown wire on the alternator as instructed.

The engine continues to run on. I removed the 12 volt wire from the starter terminal and moved it to the key on position wire. This gets no power when the key is off and the engine should shut off.

Now I managed to set this setup loose and fired it up/shut it off 3 or 4 times successfully.
Then the box fried. MSD is telling it was because of the run on's before I changed the wiring.

So I go out and drop more cash on a new box this morning. Wire it up as before fired up the truck and then went to shut it off. It is still running and I get to turn the cap in order to kill the engine.

Advise please. What am I doing wrong with this dang thing.

I read up a bit about diodes. It turns out I had the dang thing turned around. I installed it correctly and the truck shuts off now.

It is all about the little things.
