Default 302 runs like poo

1990 mustang efi 302. So got the motor in and running but seems to be missing and has no power. Cylinder 1 seems to be dead if I remove the wire it dont change how it runs. I have timming at 12* compression is 160 on all cylinders spark looks good and the injectors are firing. Leaning toward the Control module but auto zone e says it's good. I don't know what else to check. Any ideas?

Sorry should pointed out. The motor is new. Has a comp cam xe270hr cam and 1.7 rockers. I am pretty confident it's not an internal engine problem. Funny thing is it ran very much like that before the motor was rebuild.

Default 302

Swap the injector for that cylinder for another and see if the problem follows it . If you have compression and spark its gotta be fuel .

I'm thinking the computer to. Trying to search now and see if there is a way to test it. When the spark plug fires it had a steady rythem but with the no I'd light it's kinda random.

How did you determine it was a bad computer? Just change it and see? Everything else is new except the computer.

Valves to tight on that cyl.? I have seen pick up coils drop cylinders also.

Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest - View Single Post - Kyle M. Ranger, rebuilt again - Revision 4

you can also swap injector wiring to the cyl. next to it and see if the mis follows.

i agree.

possibly remove the injector and make sure it's spitting fuel correctly. you can try something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aT4S1lIBAY

there are a bunch of methods like that to clean injectors on youtube.... but they pretty much all accomplish the same thing.

since the other cylinders are hitting fine, i doubt its a wiring issue since it is a batch fire system where 4 injectors open at a time. unless it's just the injector plug.

Swapping the injectors is a good idea to try but Mustang's were not batch fired they are Sequential EFI (SEFI).

So I pulled the codes and most are related to the egr system. All egr stuff has been removed including the smog pump and I know I would get engine codes until I found someplace to turn off the egr function in the computer. Now I over looked this code before but I'm getting a code 19 something to do with the eec power relay just assumed it was egr related I guess. Anyone know what symptom that code would present?

Copy and paste from my repair info:

Code 19: Internal Voltage - Code 19 indicates the ECA voltage regulator does not have the ability to maintain correct internal voltage. Run KOEO Self-Test, if Code 19-10-11 is present, replace ECA and rerun QUICK TEST. If Code 19-10-11 is not present, service other codes as indicated. If no other codes are present, testing is complete.

I will be looking into it when I get home. What I found online said to check injector voltage first then, my numbers might be wrong, pin 36 and 57 for 12 volts. My guess is that's where the problem is. Someone already half ass replaced the pcm power relay.

So I check voltage at injectors and pins 37 and 57 all read 12.37 I plugged the computer back in and reset the codes started it let it run a little and checked codes agian. Got 31 81 82 84. That's it none of these should put the computer into limp mode correct? All those codes are EGR related and will be deal with when I have the car tuned. Turn off the egr function will fix that. It's driving me nuts.
