Default Anyone have experience with the diesel Liberty?

I just added a post in the intro thread, but I'm new on here from Marquette. I've been looking around for a nice DD-able trail vehicle and have my eye on a couple, one being an '05 Liberty CRD.

I don't have much knowledge about these jeeps so could anyone tell me about their reliability or issues/quirks/bugs?

thanks!

My mom bought an 06 new.
It ran good for a while; good torque and great fuel economy.
She had several issues with EGR and computer stuff.
At 140,000 miles the engine locked up and there was water in the oil.
Nobody at the dealerships knows they exist, let alone how to fix them.

My brother had one. Ran fine until it got cold out. He was a student at NMU and the pos computer system in it glitched bad in the cold weather.

Thanks for the lostjeeps tip, lots of good information on there. It sounds like a lot of issues could be avoided with preventative measures, but it's hard to tell if it's too late when considering the jeep is far from new.
I'll be doing some more research and reading other folks' experiences

Do you really want to pay the high price premium they seem to have in trade for having to sort out all the potential issues.
