Unhappy Teachable Moment

About 2 years ago my Dad's uncle passed away from prostate cancer, my dad started getting a check regularly, and sure as s*** 2 months ago we had the conversation " Dad has cancer" because they caught it early, he had surgery last week the doctors expect a full recovery. The moral of the story, take this s*** seriously if you need to get checked get checked . According to the doctor 1 in 12 will get prostate cancer if there's a history in your family 1 in 4 will get prostate cancer.

Very glad to hear that they caught your father's early. I've had some cancer scares in my family (breast cancer and stomach cancer for my mom and breast cancer for my sister) and luckily they were all caught very early though it's still definitely scary.

As a member of the over 50 crowd (way over 50) I can not stress enough how important both the prostate and colonscopy exams are. I have had friends saved by both.

I am glad to hear that your father is doing well. Make sure that you note his and your uncles situations on your medical history with your doctor. He will use this to determine your exam schedule.
