Default My son scared me to death last night

He had his tonsils removed on the 14th and Monday he started coughing up blood. Took him to the ER and they said its normal when a "scab" falls off and the bleeding stopped.

Yesterday about 3pm, he starts coughing up blood again but this time it was getting worse every time he spit it out. Take him back to the ER, and with in Min's of us getting there he went from quick care to critical care, to the trauma room. He was throwing up pure blood, as in a lot of blood to the point they called for 2 pints of blood, called the on call ent, and the OR. He was in surgery with in 90 min of us getting there. There was a small scab that was on one of his arteries in his throat. When he had them removed they were so big they had to cut deeper then normal.

They ended up cauterizing the bleeding spot and put some type of clue on the area. They kept him over night for observation and he is home now and said he feels a lot better.

When you see pure Blood coming out of your kid, i dont care who you are it will scare the living daylights out of you.

Scariest part is the trauma room they had him in was the same one his grandmother died in when she bleed to death internally back in 2008.

Scary stuff right there. Glad he is OK. No one knows fear till a parent fears for their kid.

Thanks, It was a scary few hours to say the least. The kid acts like nothing ever happened.

I wouldn't want anyone to ever have to go thru this.

Scary for sure. My daughter had issues when she had hers taken out last fall. Luckily they were able to stop the bleeding with medication.

Tough part is when our kids look at us we have to keep a facade to keep them calm while we tear ourselves up on the inside hoping all will be ok.
