Dustin owns Crystal. Once he gets in the high groove nobody can catch him. Other tracks he doesn't run away from the pack. I like watching SOD, there isn't one guy that always wins.

As to the original post, that is BS. Somebody is going to win, and somebody will always come in last. They shouldn't penalize them for being good.

Better be careful; score too many goals and they may start getting redistributed to the other teams.

They should have sand bagged. Now they will know for the next tournament.

To derail the thread a little more, I think the allstars put up the best sprint car shows in the state. I typically go to somewhere between 8-14 dirt track races a year, mainly i96, butler, and crystal

WoO never seems to have much race in them at i96, they purposely set the track up in a dry slick condition and just run a one groove race. I do plan to go to it this year (I wasn't going to, because of my disappointment the last few years) only because they made the track a giant 3/8 mile. Potential to force several grooves of racing, make it a lot more interesting. WoO might be a hit at berlin this fall when they put the dirt on it as well.

They should agree to withdraw, only if they are given first place in the tourney and their money back. Let the whiners who should be playing intramurals fight over second place.

Let them play. What a joke.

Thing is, how many other teams were there sandbagging through the early rounds and waiting to turn it on later in the event?

It's dumb, but it sounds like that's what the tournament wanted.

Was this AYSO by chance? It was never like that when we were young, but then the mentality that kids are too fragile to handle losing happened. It started to go that route around 1999.

Pisses me off to no end.

That's a shame. My boy has been playing AYBT basketball a few years now. When we started we were the ones getting beat by 30 points a game. After a year or so of learning from quality competition, the team started to turn around. Now they are pretty darn good. Kids need to see the best to aspire themselves.

Its not necessarily that. Its that if teams are paying to enter, and they don't think they'll have a chance to win, then they might not enter. Less money for the event organizers.

Its similar to, say, bowling alleys.

You can manipulate the scores of average bowlers considerably by adjusting the oil patterns (i.e. the difficulty level). If you bowl 1-2 times a week, do you want to go somewhere that you do well, or get your butt kicked?

Will you go to the dyno that reads 20 hp high or 20 hp low?

So very well could be something like that.

Saw recently an article on how golf coursese are looking for ways to make the game easier, including a 15" wide cup! Because the numbesr of golfers under 35 is dropping badly, they need to make it easier to attract them, and lower scores = faster rounds = more golfers per day = profit!

Making the tournament easier means more people think they will have a chance to win. More entries, more profit.

Maybe in this case, but when I was playing and coaching AYSO that was exactly what I said. I was asked to back off in a game by ref's while playing in 1999, and when I coached 8 year olds we were not even allowed to keep score. If I wanted to reward my team with Ice cream, it could not be for a win, if I did it for a win I was told I had to do it for a loss as well.
