Clive gives his reasons why he does not think that the federal government is deserving of grazing fees. He has a good case.
My question is why is it that the federal government has rights to state land? What right is it of the federal government to own and operate on state owned land?

His case isn't too good if he cannot convince a judge of it after 20 years. The feds do have control of that land as per some agreement from a long time ago. It is an odd arraignment but one that Nevada did indeed do. Its in the other Blaze article posted as to when and how and why.

From the other link:

Quote:
Itís important to note that like most states, in its constitution Nevada recognizes federal authority over public lands:

That the people inhabiting said territory do agree and declare, that they forever disclaim all right and title to the unappropriated public lands lying within said territory, and that the same shall be and remain at the sole and entire disposition of the United States; and that lands belonging to citizens of the United States, residing without the said state, shall never be taxed higher than the land belonging to the residents thereof; and that no taxes shall be imposed by said state on lands or property therein belonging to, or which may hereafter be purchased by, the United States, unless otherwise provided by the congress of the United States. [Amended in 1956. Proposed and passed by the 1953 legislature; agreed to and passed by the 1955 legislature; approved and ratified by the people at the 1956 general election. See: Statutes of Nevada 1953, p. 718; Statutes of Nevada 1955, p. 926.]

In 1934, Congress enacted the Taylor Grazing Act, giving the federal government the authority to regulate grazing on the public lands in an effort to improve rangeland conditions.

Twelve years later, the General Land Office and Grazing Service were combined to form the Bureau of Land Management, which has been given the authority to regulate public lands, including nearly 600,000 acres in Gold Butte.

Lastly, itís worth remembering Nevada joined the union in 1864. Bundyís family didnít start working the Clark Country area until the late 1880s.

Are you talking about the con trail? It's from a high flying jet, probably a commercial one that just happened to be flying over. You can come out of the bunker now.

600,000 acres is much large than ten miles square. So aren't they I fact violations the constitution? Or does that no longer apply to the gov?

The entire area is under a TFR. That's not a commercial airliner and if it is someone just lost their job. You really should do some research you know NOTHING about what's happening.

I really don't care about a dick measuring match between the BLM and a Nevada rancher.

Even though I like turtles, I don't give a damn about the desert tortoise.

What does concern me is the concept of a 'First Amendment Area'.

I was taught that the entire area between Mexico and Canada is a First Amendment Area, and no one has the power to say otherwise.

You do know that arguing is about the only thing Bruce has left to do, besides being a beer snob?

I just researched what a TFR is. Turns out there's a FAA web site showing them. Here is what it's showing for that area:

http://tfr.faa.gov/tfr_map_ims/html/.../tile_4_9.html

Nothing.

Here the original youtube video:

You might notice that it states that it is for surface to 3000 feet. Commercial jets fly higher than that.

Here is a link to the current list:

http://tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.jsp?p=l...ll&sort=d&up=N

Notice that it does not list anything for Nevada.

So what ever was in effect did not include anything above 3000 ft, and is no longer in effect.

Of course Harry Reid isn't letting it go. How dare some simple commoner stand in the way of his Chinese paychecks.

I just find it a bit obtuse to believe that Harry Reid is smart enough to begin this land grab back in the late 80s so he can put china solar on it in 2020.
