Maybe the timing is bad, maybe it should happen at whatever time of the year cattle round ups typically take place. But I do support the idea that the owner/manager of a property has the right to confiscate and dispose off things left on their property illegally.
First and foremost they shouldn't be pushed like they are. Also herding calves that young it stupid. Personally I think the guy should be left alone. I truly believe it's about selling rights to water and other bullshit. The BLM fucks out land up all the time. It's about time someone says enough is enough. Sure it's "illegal" because the government wants us to do what they say.

Look at Tellico, it was about the trout, wait now they log it? You watch there is a motive here and it money not grazing fees it's much bigger than that. A politician stands to gain a lot of money. The BLM needs to be put in their place.

If you're still arguing that this is about the desert tortoises... You have failed epicly in doing any sort of real research on what's going on out there.

What I would not do is spend 20 years continuing to use the system, without paying for it, and not expect that eventually the law enforcement people to come down on me.

Yes, I am not very informed. That is why I want to know more. I have not heard any of those conference calls. Do you have a link to something about them?

It's about BLM auctioning leases for these "protected" lands to energy companies so they can drill and start hydraulic fracking operations. This particular piece is part of a deal brokered by Harry Reid and his son in collaboration with a Chinese energy company to build a solar and wind farm. They can't continue until the rancher and his cattle are gone. The current director of BLM, who is running these operations, is none other than a former Reid staffer.

The article that was posted from the blaze says otherwise. But who knows. I'm glad people stood up against a gov agency that tried to use force and threats to scare its citizens. I also think this particular rancher is an asshole.

No according to this:

Quote:
6. IS HARRY REID WORKING WITH THE CHINESE TO FORCE THE BUNDYS OUT?

The facts don’t support it.

Reid and his son, Rory, were both deeply involved in a deal with the Chinese-owned ENN Energy Group to build a $5 billion solar farm in Laughlin, Nevada. But that is roughly 177 miles away from Bundy’s 150-acre ranch in Bunkerville, Nev., and 213 miles from the federally owned Gold Butte area where Bundy ‘s cattle graze, according to Google Maps.

It’s worth noting that Rory Reid is the former chair of the Clark County commission (Clark County is located near the Gold Butte area). He left in 2011 to work for a Las Vega law firm representing ENN.

But despite the Reids’ best attempts to secure the land for ENN, and despite the Bureau of Land Management expressing concerns that “trespass cattle” could complicate plans to use land in the Gold Butte area for “offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development,” it was all in vain: The Chinese company eventually shelved the project in June 2013 when it failed to find a customer. The deal is over and the proposed construction will not happen.

This is where I'm at. There's more to the story. Glad the people stood up. The guy is still in the wrong however.

I don't think he handled the issue correctly to start. I also think the gov tried to play bully and finally someone said enough is enough. What I really hate is how these cowards forget where their pay checks come from.

The plan is to use this as a buffer zone. A "we made room over here by taking the cattle off so they can relocate to the buffer zone" defense is what the land will provide. Ultimately this land too will be sold to the highest bidder. Not only that, but when you want to do something with land and not have objections getting all the surrounding people out is a huge benefit. Look at Pfizer or Dow, they own huge tracts of land so that they have nobody around to object to what they want to do.

I am not saying the rancher (the only one left out of over 50) is totally right but he has drawn a line and I respect that. The gov has been told, this will not be an easy task if they want to be a dictatorship.

Use google the call number and recordings is easy to find if you want to hear their side.

I agree obviously. I do have a bit of a different take on the whole "all gov employees are jack booted thugs" mentality though. I know a few state troopers and a few more local cops/sheriff deputies and a even a few more gov employees and I gotta say, maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I think they would have a hard time convincing everyone in the gov to become killers of citizens once the real fighting started. These people are regular dudes with families that live in the same little towns as the rest of us, they just happen to land a "cush" government job. Of all the cops I know I don't know one that would support an overreaching government to the point of killings its citizens. They are truly there to protect and serve its citizens. I would imagine there were some very nervous and hesitant BLM guys out there at the ranch that really wanted nothing to pop off due to their own beliefs. If there was ever a civil war to start up the "people" outnumber the police and gov agency employees by a very large number. It wouldn't take too many casualties before even the worse of them decided that maybe they aren't cut out for this kind of work. All military and police, and I'm sure all agents of the government, take the same oath to protect the constitution and I find it hard to believe they would all take part in some sort of gov take over.

I agree and if you watch and listen many of them have said the sheriff is "on their side". The BLM guys would claim they are just doing their job. However, I don't think what took place is in their job description. Also many of them were most likely paid mercs. If this is true they too are payed by the very people they were treating to shoot.

There is a video where a guy (possibly BLM possibly merc) clearly shows he has no power and says it must be taken up with "metro". So just who has power here? If it's a fed operation than why is metro involved? If it's a state operation (as I and many others believe it's the state who really controls the land) this is a mute topic as the family had offered to pay grazing fees to the state.

Anyone watching the press conference? Reports of cattle shot and many injured. Also a jet is flying over. Why does the gov need a jet to be in the area? Do the citizen have tanks or something now? Wtf!!!
