Default v10 oil pump

im doing a oil pump on a 2 valve v10 any one have any tips or insight on taking the chains off and installing? and how are you supposed to prime this engine?

Dont let the cams move. I think there is a special tool to hold them in time.

Check the chain tensioners while your in there.
I doubt they will be bad. I have seen v10's with 300k on factory chains.

Are u sure the pump is bad? My friends 3v v10 just puked the ops. Read no pressure.
it was a 15 dollar sending unit. I dont think oil pump failure is a common issue to triton motors, but it can happen.

yes cams are bone dry and it wouldn't fill a new filter, this thing is so neglected its funny. The truck is not worth fixing do to needing exhaust manifold studs,4 coils, ball joints, shocks, front joints ,hubs, and its really crusty. but the owner is hell bent on fixing the engine even after I told him its not worth it. this is a freebie for my gf parents.

If it's like the focus "tool" it's just a piece of flat stock with the appropriate thickness.
