Default MK40 Elite Kahr Reviews

Long story short I am now working security downtown Detroit and am looking for a good conceal carry. The S&W SD9VE I had was just to big to carry on my side for concealment so I need something a little smaller. My buddies dad offered to sell me his MK40 Elite Kahr with 3 mags for $500. He takes excellent care of his guns and although he shoots every weekend, he also cleans them after every use. Im pretty damn sure thats an amazing deal and gun but what do you guys think?

He may be trading with another guy but if it doesnt go through he said I can take it. Fingers crossed.

I have my CPL so I'd carry conceal, sure I could have just openly carried a larger gun on my waist downtown but I'd rather not draw attention to myself. I already get harassed enough doing armed patrol because the revolver we are issued is exposed on our waist. You will get much less harassment when it is concealed.

What kind of harassment? I've been open carrying for a long time and have never had a single person harass me.

Do you open carry downtown? That has a large part to do with it. Its not rocket science, open carrying a gun will attract more attention to yourself than not, its asking for trouble. And if a guy has ill intentions towards you, he now knows youre carrying and where it is at as opposed to unaware and will be in for a surprise.

Your questions have nothing to do with my question however, I didnt ask if I should be concealing carry or not thats my own personal choice which is obviously why I got my CPL. I simply wanted feedback on the gun itself and offer so please lets keep this on track.

Just trying to inform someone who is obviously uninformed about the realities of open carry.

It's obvious it's a lost cause.

Google, MGO or any other major gun forums will be able to assist you in making your decision regarding the Kahr pistol much better than an off road forum.

And that is the reality of open carry. No one gives a shit. 95% of the population won't even notice, 4% will just think you're a cop and 1% will be annoyed.

The likelihood of "drawing attention to yourself" or anything negative like that happening makes the irrational and ridiculous arguments against it completely irrelevant.

The situation changes a bit when you decide to carry a long gun though but that's not what we're talking about.

All I'm trying to say is that there is no reason to dump $500 on a different pistol when you already have one that's just fine for what you're doing.

Just throwing this out there, this particular section of the forums welcomes gun related questions which is why I posted on it. This particular section is not about off road, and im assuming that many off roaders of this forum have firearm knowledge or else there wouldnt be a gun related section. Thanks for not answering any of my questions and wasting my time.

To answer your question the Kahr pistols are great. They were the first of the thin line pistols . The only negative I could add is they have a noticeable amount of recoil over say your S&W but your not buying a range gun.
You might look into the S&W shield they are less than 500 I believe and customers that have them like them.
I don't know what type of security your working but I would wouldn't attention drawn to me either. Your not a law enforcement officer so you don't want to look (In my opinion) like one .

EDIT to add that price is pretty good I just checked and they've went up in price.

Thanks! I ended up purchasing the pistol and am very happy with the purchase thus far. It conceals very nicely and fits well in my hand. Firing the gun itself too is comfortable IMO. I don't draw much attention to me with it concealed so I don't look like a cop so dont have to worry about that.
