I heard he was able to leave the scene and police tracked him down.
Leaving the scene of the accident is illegal, so this driver might have a bad driving record, or something to hide.

Mr Green already covered most of it. Look at it this way: if you're in the left lane and somebody is right behind you, you're going too slow. Move over at your earliest convenience. Note the use of "convenience", not "opportunity". No sense diving into the lane of traffic going 10mph slower, but if you've got a reasonable opening to get out of the way, take it. Regardless of speed, if there's a whole line of traffic in front of you doing the same speed, then by all means keep at it. If you're in this situation and the asshat behind you is tailgating, don't brake check him. You're also brake checking the 13 people behind him. Just shoot out his tires instead. But if you're on your own out front in the left lane with people behind you, you are now the bottleneck and it's common courtesy to GTFO of the way. If more people understood this we'd have far less traffic issues. I don't care if you're doing 40 or 80, if you've got room to the right then let them by to the left. If nothing else they're now your decoy for cops and you can carry on at your slightly more than legal pace without worry.

Both people in the video were idiots.....1 is just a reckless idiot and the other 1 is an inconsiderate idiot.

Wait.........what if you drive a big Ford truck and decide to do the legal speed limit in the fast lane, can I flip people off while in cruise control?

I have no problem following someone in the slow lane doing 64mph passing a line of cars, even if it is 100% clear in front of them, if they are passing I am fine waiting.

I have all the problems in the world following someone doing 85mph in the fast lane when there is no reason for them to be in the left lane and the right lane is clear enough for them to get out of my fucking way.

If someone has the opportunity to pass you on the right then you shouldn't have been in the left lane.

In Michigan, the left lane is for overtaking. You can be in the left lane for turning or if there is a constant flow of traffic (if the right lane is full you can stay in the left lane).

In Michigan, you cannot pass on the right unless there are three or more lanes going in your direction.

Much of the year I drive to work it is in the dark. Some of the year I get home when it's dark. I find that driving close enough and offset enough to keep your headlights in their eyes to be sufficiently effective at persuading them to move over. There are some that won't, and that's OK. They think they're "teaching you a lesson" but meanwhile they get upset and I have something to talk about when I get in to the office. I mean, really, the only difference to me is that it takes a little longer to work, I don't get to use cruise control, and I cycle my foot between the accelerator and the brake every couple seconds. And I listen to SXM 37, even if a crappy song comes on. Big deal, it sure beats thinking about what I'm not going to get done on my way to work that day.

There are some that think flashing headlights and brakechecking works. Usually BMWs (preferably ghettoclass 3 series or low-rent leased 5 series) or 7th generation Malibus with baller tint for whatever reason. I don't know why flashing headlights would work on a pickup with autodimming mirrors but whatever. Brakechecking is funny because do you really want to get pushed out into the ditch by a 5500lb truck? And brakechecking is a two way phenomenon... do you really want to brakecheck a truck when if they get out in front of you they can do the same... and they have more swept area on their rear brakes than you do on your fronts? Either one of those things is escalation and admittance that you know you're a piece of shit blocking traffic... why wouldn't you just play ignorant?

I was always taught that when you come up to come up to somebody that it just sitting in the left lane, a quick head light flash is a polite way to remind/ask them to move to the right lane. I have found this to work very well... especially on the eastern sea board of the country.

This. A similar courtesy of flashing your headlights so a semi can change lanes in front you.
