I just looked at a reg cab short box on the Chevy. lot in Grand Haven last week. $25xxx give or take. I have absolutely no details as it was just a quick look. Might want to give them a call or drive over.

I sure dig reading about all the new 1/2 ton stuff. My current 3/4 ton diesel might be my last. With all the power, mpg, and towing ability the 1/2 brings, I can't see needing 3/4 unless I am pulling a 2 place car trailer.

I have been a Ford guy my whole life. The funny part of that is, while I do have a soft spot for old Fords, I won't contest that they always keep me very busy with a list of repairs that never ends. And also, If I ever get back into the new(er) truck market, Ford isn't even on my list of potentials. I'll stick with the ones I know.

My Dad on the other hand has never been a Ford guy and doesn't plan to become one.

My buddy bought the last 2012 Ecoboost XLT 4x4 on the lot last year. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck. But now that I've looked at the Chevy's and the Ram, I can clearly feel the difference. His Ford has nothing on the other two. (In my humble opinion. Others opinions may differ. But let's debate Ford's superiority in another thread)

If I may..... I've driven both trucks, I like both trucks, but I like the ram more. The controls in the Chevy are odd to me. I don't like the brake controller and 4x4 button locations, the Chevy cab seems somewhat small, and I'm not a big guy. The ride is good on both, but the ram does havea slight advantage I'd say. The Hemi has more per, and Imo its obvious when you mash the go pedal.

Either truck would be an excellent choice, but I would go with the ram if it were me. And next year when my cruse is paidoff, a 1/2 ton ram diesel will be my next new vehicle purchase

My dad just got a 2014 Silverado, and he really likes it. I talked him out of the Ram just for the fact that when I worked at the dealer, I had more than a few 2014 Rams with major computer issues......like get out and unhook the battery for five minutes before you can drive again issues. I'm sure GM has their own set of issues, but he could't pass up the deal he got on the Chevy.

The new GM trucks are very nice, no doubt....Im glad to hear your dad got a deal. If I have any problems with my 14 Ram I will let everyone know. The only issue I have had so far is having my brother in his new Silverado, and my cousin in my ecoboost pissed off as my truck is getting better fuel mileage and is quicker then both

I am a chevy slappy, I admit I will overlook issues on my chevy (based on previous good experiences) that I will complain loudly about on a Ford (based on multiple pure shit experiences). But my brother bought a 2014 chevy that had body control module issues to the point they gave him a brand new truck. The truck he returned was less than 2 weeks old.

I don't know how common the issue is with the dodges, but it apparently can happen to a chevy too.

Valid points. The sheer amount of electronics on these trucks is scary. I can't imagine the shit we will be dealing with when these things get 15 years old.

My Dad wants a well optioned truck - If it were me buying, I'd opt for a rubber floored 4x4 Tradesman with a Hemi.

In a few years no one will want to own ANY car from 2012-2016 with first gen infotainment systems out of warranty.

Ding ding ding! Winner. I can tell you first hand that the "validation" that's done on these systems, at least at one particular company, is half ass at best. With more and more of the car becoming electronically based, much of the stuff goes to market in what I would call "beta" versions at best. It almost has to given the reduced design cycles.

I think this holds true for all brands.

I agree...Chrysler Uconnect, Cadillac CUE, Ford Mytouch, Audi System....all problematic systems. Why is it so hard to have buttons in a car now. That is what I love about the Ram Tradesmen trucks....they still have buttons, not Uconnect.

even the ford sync that has buttons sucks ass, you have to go through too many button pushing sessions to get anything accomplished. I like the nice simple radio in my 09. I know Jesus will say it's what the people want, but we've come to a point where they are overcomplicating shit just to overcomplicated it. I don't want crank windows and manual locks, but this radio shit is out of control

one of my favorite things about my current truck.

My radio has a simple volume knob, buttons directly under my favorites, I can save up to 6 or 8 different sets of favorites, easily scrolled through with the favorites button, I have seek, scan, tune buttons, my hvac is 3 nice simple rotary dials, blah blah blah its all right there and simple.

Our focus I have to remember which menus to go through to accomplish anything. Drives me nuts.
