Default Giving up control?????

Our administration is giving up control of the internet over to an international body to oversee the function and control of something that was developed by the US government.
Does anybody find this a little troubling?

That article says a bunch, without saying anything. It just scratches the surface of what's a foot here.

whoa, wait, the government is giving up control of something and you're complaining? I thought you were in favor of less government control? Shouldn't you be happy about this? Make up your mind.

They have had the internet under their control since it has been developed. We have the 1st amendment, other countries do not. I believe that if controlled by an international body, more of what is put could also be censored.
The media tends to give us information that they want us to hear. With social media the people can put out information that we do not see or hear from the news outlets.
An international body could hit the switch so to speak on things they figure the people should not know about.

What they are talking about giving up control over is "the system of Web addresses and domain names". I do not believe there is any such big switch that one group could hit to intermediately censor information about a certain subject.

I would think the people that live in dictator countries, like Iran, NorthKorea and the likes would say something different. They are sensored as for what they can say via the internet or just freedom of speech.

Certainly places like that censor their media and internet. But it's not done with the flip of a switch, and it has little to do with the system of Web addresses and domain names.
