Rob is right, to a point, only the strong should survive, within reason of course. That doesn't mean you draw a comparison to the nazi's and start killing off those who you do not view as strong, that means you quit sending "ridiculous" (i use that word to show that it is ok to send "reasonable") amounts of aid to other parts of the world when you have your own citizens who could benefit from some of that aid.

At the same time you stop sending "ridiculous" amounts of aid to your own citizens and reform the welfare system so that it can be used as a proper tool to get people back on their feet and create contributing members of society.

So you're saying, in essence, that we should take care of #1 first and then take care of everybody else? Do you realize #1 is, in comparison to the rest of the numbers, taken care of?

It's a matter of perspective and, like someone already had mentioned, they call us the "Americans Satan's" because, from their world view, we are BEYOND taken care of. We are selfish, arrogant, and very egocentric compared to 75% of the world.

We have been blessed, beyond measure, but refuse to be happy with what we do have. Little kids in Mexico are happier then a majority of the punks that are growing up in America. Why? because they are satisfied with what they have.

Edit: And dont' think for a minute that I'm any better. I grew up here, I'm in the same boat.

Yes I do realize that, and that is exactly how it should be. I just think in general we should take a little less care of everyone else ane re-focus how we give handouts in our own country to make them more effective.

I agree 100% with the rest of your comment.

Our forefathers put together a system that is by far, the best in the world. Why shouldn't we take care of our own first? I don't mean free handouts, I mean take the Kickstand approach. I certainly want the inner city kids in Pontiac and Flint to get out of drug related cess pools before I want to worry about Mohammad in India. I think we give away far too much money on useless foreign aid that could be used to resolve some of our own economic and social issues.

And that's why when the little kids in Mexico grow up and don't have shit, they jump the damn fence and come here. If you're satisfied with shit, you deserve shit. If you're too young to know any better, blame your parents. The people establishing this country started with the same things as everyone else and built it into what it is today, making it "better than 75% of the world." Most of us were raised under the pretense of working hard and only getting what you work for. I'm proud of the fact that my Grandpa's Great-Grandpa spent everything he had to move to the US in the early 1800's. By not being satisfied with what we have, we maintain a higher standard and keep pushing it higher. That's the point isn't it, to leave things better off for our children. I refuse to be satisfied with what I have. It keeps me employed, keeps me learning, keeps me working toward leaving more for my children. I refuse to feel ashamed and people can call me "selfish, arrogant, and very egocentric" all they want, it's not going to keep me from pushing forward. I'm happy most of the people I know and associate with feel the exact same way about that. You personally have it better than 75% of the world because of the work your parents and grandparents did. Thank them the next time you see them.

Feeling inspired today, I had my girl go to old Navy and buy a ton of clothes. We're packing them in an extra suitcase and giving it to locals in Jamaica. Then we have an empty suitcase to bring home souvenirs and stuff.

It says I'm in the top 13%. WTF

Considering all the people living in third world/underdeveloped countries, I can understand that. I would like to know where I stand when I'm only compared to people living in the USA.
