Default What Percent are you?

I found this little Calculator very eye opening. We talk about 'the 1%' alot on here.

I'm 22%.

Yea that calculator isn't even close. I'm not one of the 1% ers. 50K take home and being single would make me 1.1%

We do well. I am not surprised.

One thing to keep in mind with this calculator that it compares you to the world population, not the U.S. population which would change the equation substantially. Just looking at the average American using GDP per capita puts one in the top 1.1% worldwide; looking at per capita income puts the average American in 1.6%.

Not sure of the accuracy of thier formula, but...

You are in the richest 3.0 % of the world's population. Your income is more than 20 times that of the typical person

If you donate 10% of your income…
You will still be in the richest 3.7% of the world's population. Your income will be more than 18 times that of the typical person.

Typical people must not be eating very well!

Hmmm. Interesting. I'm curious how they come up with these #'s. I put in household income to include mine & my wife both; it says I'm in the top 6.2%. I find that hard to believe at a combined net of less than 100k.

Kids have a huge impact on the numbers! The caluclator will also show that if you increase your income, you can give more and still stay in the richest classification in the world.

Yeah, and to be honest I didn't throw our exact salary numbers in there, but ball parked it. 2 kids, 2 adults....

Not sure how they do the math, but I'm guessing based on the number of people in our house and our salary that leaves more money per person putting us higher towards the top?
