I just can't use those things. EOTech is even worse to me.

It's either irons or an ACOG for me.

I never used one, so we shall see. This is what happens when you're up at 0300 and can't sleep. Cha Ching $800 spent while laying in bed.

You could've bought a gently used ACOG for that...

I did and that aimpoint had awesome reviews. I should buy a acog too, return or sell the one I don't like.

If you drop the coin and get the ACOG with the RMR or built in irons on top and you'll have one extremely durable optic that does absolutely everything.

Wise choice.

Irons are more than adequate for 150m and in. We both know we can shoot 300m with them. If an optic doesn't provide an improvement over that... what's the point?

I had the comp m4 on my AR, got it off of the group buy on ar15.com years ago...it came with the different flip caps and qrp2 mount for $400 if I remember correctly. Decent for close up shooting, but the 4moa dot covered too much at anything at 100 yards or more. Obviously it's not a long range optic, but I wouldn't buy another...give me a good variable power scope any day. The trijicon accupoint tr-22 2.5-10x56 was by far my favorite setup, but not as good at the close up fast shooting.

I'll take the other side of the argument: red dots are faster to acquire than irons, and much easier to use in low light situations. I love them.

It all depends on your experience and training.

Nope. There's a reason everybody runs a 1x optic in competition where irons and 1x optics are in the same division.

If you X hours into training with both, the red dot will always be faster.

Cool story bro.

I'll stick with irons. Worked just fine for me when it mattered.

When your comp targets start shooting back at you I'll start to care.
