Post up some pics of the trouble spots.

The pics of my wife's shotgun I just cleaned up... the mag tube and barrel were covered in rust. Perfect patina now. No more rust.

Now that i look at it, it looks much more pitted than i thought. Might not be able to be saved

I bought a old wingmaster prison gun in the same shape. I had it blasted all the pitting filled and then duracoated. I posted it back in this thread.

Yeah... that barrel looks BAD.

Awfully deep... The method I use to gently (but permanently) remove surface rust would take days for a barrel that bad.

The action and mag tube could be saved and cleaned up though. Luckily it's a pretty easy barrel to find so replacing it won't be difficult or expensive.

I'd try refinishing it before I replaced it. I've seen worse.

I think i only paid $120 for it? Just a field gun. It would be nice to clean it up but probably isn't really worth it.

I bought my first shotgun earlier this week. It is a Stoeger Model 3000 black 26" barrel. I wanted a semi shotgun I could outfit for 3 gun if I so choose. I want to give 3 gun a try this summer. After lots of reading the M3000 seems to be a great budget poor man's Benelli as it uses the same inertia drive system for a fraction of the price. It will get a nordic +6 mag tube extension, bigger slide release, and maybe a bigger bolt handle later for it.

If the price is right I would buy it even if I didn't plan to give it as a gift. I own smaller ammo stashes of multiple calibers I don't have a gun in yet.
Thanks for the info :)

Went ahead and ordered a new mag spring and follower for that Mossy. The spring was kinda weak and it was almost 100% covered in rust. I'll spend the $20 including shipping for the peace of mind.

Gonna strip down the $50 raven and paint it up tonight. Make the ugly POS a slightly prettier POS.
