For the record I do not clear rooms or intend on having to. What I do plan on or plan for my wife to do is if needed have the best tool we can have to protect our family. After shooting many different types of firearms and having the wife do the same we have our winner .

I've given consideration to the mini 30... However I've never shot one or don't know anyone who has. Internets are full of bs. Like here for example

Personally, I'd just rather have an AK.

There really isn't anything good about the Mini-14 or Mini-30 except for looks...

^^ That's what I figured with the .762; but I'm really thinking of swooping up a new or newer (2000's and up) model mini 14. They look nice in a parkerized finish with the stock darkened a bit. Just like the m14. I like. A lot.

That's why it's called the Mini-14. It's a mini M-14

This is the best option for 7.62x39 . We tried to get the round to work in the ar 15 without much luck. I wonder if the mini30 is much better ?

One advantage to the Mini's is their availability in stainless.

I bought a mini-30 stainless synthetic at a local shop a year and a half ago. I paid about $500 out the door with an extra set of Williams sights, three Ruger 20 round mags, two aftermarket 30 round mags, a Ruger soft case, and got him to throw in a set of XD firesights.

I planned to cut it down and build a permanently affixed suppressor, and use the pistol style fire sights. Then crazy things happened last winter, and I sold the gun for $1680, the mags for ~80 each, and kept the firesights and soft case.

I only shot about five rounds through it. I didn't even have sights on it, so I don't know if it would've hit what I was aiming at or not. It did go bang every time though. I'd consider another one if the price was right.

I don't like Ak's though. I'd rather have a Mini, AR, or SKS in 7.62x39. I have nothing against 7.62x39, it trumps 300blk.

Yes standard and the AK47 lower. We milled the feed lips back on some magazines and the dedicated lower did work better. It still wasn't a AK as far as being dependable.

Ugh... I might have to have a custom leather holster made for my HK45 Tactical due to the threaded barrel. God damnit.

Keeping my eyes peeled for a decent deal on a 870 super mag or nova 3.5"

Buddy is in search of one for a backup duck gun.

Figured I'd spread the word

Williams has one right now, I think they had 310 on it used. It wasn't in bad shape at all.
