I'm surprised they just don't use them for targets. Impact area always need targets.
They aren't making more humvees. They haven't for a while now. They're switching to M-ATVs.

Looks like every piece had to be destroyed/scrapped, and it has to be done the same day you haul any of it out of there, and they'll send someone to watch you do it.

Wow. Complete shredding of absolutely everything. Harvesting of parts is forbidden.

No Humvee wheels and tires coming out of this lot.

Like I have said in politics, "it's not what our government spends that is the problem, it is what it wastes".

But the fate of that lot is really nothing compared to the impending withdrawal from Afghanistan. Apparently the Army is running quite the scrap yard, but in that case you're stuck with over 10 years of equipment and no easy way to get it out. I'd like to see what kind of crusher you stick a MRAP in.

It is too bad there will never be any cheap beater surplus Humvees running around that you can pick up for a couple grand like the old Blazers and pickups though.

They'll just sell it all off and leave what they don't want to ship.

Afghanis are gonna be rolling MRAPs left and right. Booby trapping all of that equipment with claymores wouldn't do as good of a job at killing them than just letting them have them.

No, the JLTV is taking their place. The contract has not been awarded yet. The MATV/MRAP is a lot bigger vehicle than the HMMWV

The M-ATV is a JLTV... it's one of the designs that is already being fielded both stateside and in combat.

They were taking delivery of hundreds of them when I left Fort Hood.

Back in the day I got three power wagons for $1200. Two turned into mighty fine vehicles for me. That would be cool to see beater hummers as common as bonnevilles.
And bring back $100 garands while we are at it.

No the M-ATV is the Oshkosh specific designation for the MRAP and it is not the JLTV. The JLTV has not been fielded.

You win.

Looks like the JLTV is just a lighter M-ATV and is air transportable.

Whoopty freakin' do. Waste of money. Use the M-ATV that they already have.

I just want one, they should sell seperate cause what they sell for by private owner is insane so maybe the price would go down because there would be a lot more out there,

There's a bunch of Korea loaners that were to be returned, but Obama squashed that idea.
