Used civilian ones seem to be going for around 40k. These would be awesome to snag up.

Anyone know what demilitarization of a humvee entails?

They don't seem to be fucking around with it since the buyer has to attend a seminar as a condition of sale.

It looks like the buyer will be forced, by law, to totally destroy and scrap every single truck.

The more I look into this the more I see an absolute massive waste of good equipment. Even the invoice lists the whole lot as unprepared scrap.

You know damn well a decent condition, running and driving humvee would sell for $15,000-$20,000 by itself... there's fucking 52 of them here and every single one of them is going to be cut to pieces and melted down.

It's pretty intense. Basically need to destroy all parts beyond functionality and often beyond identification

What a shame these would be so much fun. From what I heard they use to auction these off as is and too many people were fucking them selfs up in them.

This made me angry. WE paid for these already and now they're being thrown away for no good reason.

Maybe it's different for the HMMWV but I guarantee that's how it is for most of the others including MRAP and HEMTT

Depends on what it is, on what they want done. You can buy de-miled firearms known as parts kits. Anyhow again depending on the model you can put it back together and again depending on the model that may or may not be legal. Back to these hmmwv I'm willing to bet it a simple cut in half and they would call it de-miled...but that's just a guess. Considering nothing on these are considered top secret I'm willing to bet they don't need total destruction

Nothing on any of them is classified unless you know specifically what they are designed to protect against, ie mine/ied size, projectile diameter and velocity, etc.

The rules call for them to be destroyed because they weren't manufactured to DOT specs.

Thank people who bought Jeeps and MUTTs surplus, went out and got hurt, then sued for negligence because said vehicles lacked seat belts and roll cages as then required by federal law (i.e. federal gummint sold me truck that didn't meet their own rules").

The reason is so they can make more.
I'm surprised they just don't use them for targets. Impact area always need targets.
