Default Picked up a 2014 spring turkey guide today

And saw that starting in March you must purchase a "base" hunting license in order to buy any other type of license. $11.00 for residents,$151.00 for non residents. Turkey license is still $15.00. Anybody know if deer tags are going up? Is this a way for the DNR to say they have not raised the cost of a license?

Turkey tags are the only ones that didn't go up. I guess the numbers are too low to raise the price ?

Borderline on being worth $15 imo. Might be a hard sell if it went up.

We sell licenses at work I can't wait to tell people they have to pay eleven dollars to apply for a license that went up thirty three percent.

Road kill tag is free. It's always open season too.

Sell your deer rifles... build one hell of an armored front end... Have at it.

I understand raising the price a little. Everything has gone up around us, but I wonder what the "return" on investment will be. I guess they have to do something to get money since all the does are gone now.

This is for Colorado because that is the state other than Michigan that I have spent the most time hunting in. Colorado is by far not the most expensive either.

Keep in mind their seasons are generally 4-7 days long. You can't use your tag from bow season to shoot a deer with your gun. You can't go all over the state and hunt where ever you want. You have to hunt in the area that you put in for. After season opens you can no longer buy a tag so for all you guys that shoot a deer and then head to the store for a tag that is out f the question.

Exactly what I was going to say. Licenses in the Midwest are cheap compared to a lot of other states

The DNR doesn't do anything with the wildlife that should result in an increase for tags...DNR money grab is all this is and all of you are falling for it

What are my options?
I did visit the DNR website. It says the $11.00 base license is also a small game license. I usually buy a small game license, combo deer, one doe permit and a fall turkey tag to get the sportsman discount. I dont remember the last time I went small game hunting.

They raised the price from stupid cheap to just cheap. If you don't like it go elsewhere to hunt, oh wait it is still cheaper here than there! States with preference points generally don't refund you the whole amount of the tag if you don't draw. So you pay to not even hunt! Plus it's 11 fucking dollars extra per year, that's not the end of the world.
