Joe, I am down for a group rate deal. I have a group of 4 vehicles I think. Let me know the details. If not Hartwick is right there too.

get off I75N at the hartwick pines exit. go right about 3 miles, you will see bobcat trail.
turn right on bobcat trail. its a dirt trail, but safe for any vehicle.
i just towed my 36 ft travel trailer down it in 2wd. go about 2 miles down bobcat trail.
river park campground will be on your right, just after the dirt trail turns to paved road. go in and see dennis.
i told his wife a bunch of you guys might show up. they are very cool! small family owned business.
free clean showers, heated shower house. real basic place, but cool owners.
dennis is an old school motor head, probably could even help with minor repairs, or tools if needed.
he knows everyone in town. if you need something ask him where to get it, he will know.

Are we in the "confirmed" list in the original post (I assume we're in the "Facebook confirmed" group)? 3 of us total, BTW, Kyle. Thanks for organizing this.

Put me down as a maybe. In the process of shoehorning a 5.3L into my CJ-7 so hopefully I'll have it done by June! Definitely up for camping and some of the less extreme trails since I need my Jeep in one piece to get back home

More newbie questions if I may, I have KM's on my JK and they have between 7/32 and 1/4" left on the treads. Heading the advice I've read in several forums I would really like to run in stock configuration before I start getting into lift kits, bigger tires etc. that being said I also don't want to be the guy holding everyone up because my stuff doesn't work.

So, would I be ok with what i have on the jeep now? Hoping to make Saturday's events.

Thanks!

You should be fine for the Grayling area. I would imagine most of if not all of the trails can be done in 2 wheel drive. The only exception to that would be if we end up at Bull Gap or St Helen scramble area. You would be able to get to either of those places but may not be able to participate at them. I don't for see you being an anchor though. Someone else chime in if this is bad advice please.

I agree, its pretty light riding up there. You should be fine. Last year I ran around in a stock TJ with all terrains around the same depth and did fine. The major challenges are going to be hill climbs and if you don't make it up just back down and go around. Grayling is mostly sandy trails with some hill climbs. There is a lot of tight trails that are fun where you are honestly better off in a smaller rig than a big one.

Do we have to make reservations ahead of time with the camping sites you mentioned? Just trying to make sure I don't forget anything before the trip.

I believe everyone is going to River Park Campground. I would call ahead to make reservations. joe_jeep have you talked to them at all? If not maybe I can call up and we can start making reservations together so everyone that camps there can be put next to each other?

Sounds good. If the guys organizing this could tell the campground a group name and let us know what that is, it would help us out a lot with making reservations. If I could just tell the campground that I'm with the GL4x4 group or whatever, it would be a lot easier to organize us together.

Alright I called up and talked to the lady at River Park. $20 for rustic camping and $30 for electric. Just mentioned the 'Jeep Group' and they are going to put everyone together!

I have updated the list of attendees. It looks like we should have a great group of people. Providing that the national guard are not everywhere, we should be up for a great ride.

Will likely head up Thursday or Friday AM to SH. Have a place there so that`s where I`ll be staying.

Just a couple suggestions.
We can use the big parking lot in SH on Airport Road for a staging area. Room for trailers and tow rigs.
Don`t forget SH has camping right in town also. Full hook up to Rustic.
