Default The curse of oak island, episode 2 in 20 minutes

http://www.history.com/shows/the-curse-of-oak-island

I've always been intrigued by the story of oak island, but this is confusing to me. The two brothers spent upwards of $10 million to have the rights to excavate the money pit, but in episode one they were using some clapped out construction equipment and pumping water into a dumpster to see if they could find any metal in a 150' deep hole encased in metal. Of course they found metal, why did they have to do that test?

If this episode doesn't accomplish something cool, then I'm not going to bother watching any more.

Yeah. Watched the first episode. It intrigued me. Hopefully something worthwhile comes up.

Well I read that the brothers bought more than half the island so that might be some of that $10 million dollars.

My point was, they dropped 10 million on buying the rights to dig there, why are they using a $5k drilling rig and a dumpster?? It doesn't make sense.

Seems like they could strip mine down to the bottom quickly with some big equipment.

The brothers that bought the majority of the island are from Michigan.

I didn't watch the show, but the island itself intrigued me.

They haven't found nothing that hasn't been found before. Treasurenet.com has more info if anyone is into the show.

I just read the wiki on it and it's been dug out all the way down to clay and over 130 foot at least twice now and nothing was found. So do they think there's shit in tunnels? With today's technologies I would think we could clear out that entire island or do scans so some shit easy enough. I mean if some pirates could dig it that deep 600 years ago and work down there enough to store shit, we can't dig it out now with equipment?

Yeah, they spent all the cash to but the rights, so I assume their pockets are a little thin. But if I understand it correctly they are digging in the reinforced steel hole alongside the original. If there is treasure to be found, should it be in the original hole, the one about a hundred feet away that looks like a muddy sinkhole? It's intriguing, but not sure how many episodes I am in for. I missed tonight's, hopefully it will replay during the week.

I also find the mystery of the money pit interesting. It seems though if there are indeed 3 tunnels that flood the pit with ocean water, that those tunnels by now would be large enough to send unmanned submersibles through them. What I get from the money they spent, it was used to buy up controlling interest in half the island so they could dig or whatever to try and find the supposed riches. I am hooked for at least a few episodes, not sure past that though .

They will find nothing and make their money from advertisement revenue gained from the idiots watching the TV show.

They have / bought another business that has something to do with the island, nothing to do with the hole. I forget the details.

I have always wanted to go look for this myself. The rich brother owns tons of stuff here in town and is building those windmills down by manton. I emailed him to volunteer time and labor on the island if they are still looking next season.
