The car has been a great car. 60,000 miles. It's only required 5 oil changes and tire rotations. I wish a set of golf clubs fit in the trunk but that's not really a major issue.
I took this when I got home today... this is my daily average as posted earlier.

Just curious because I am interested in getting one this summer to have a cheap driving DD.
Because I was quoting my actual mpg, not what I wish it was.

I am not sure I will end up keeping it a long time. I could see going back to a gasser for ease of maintenance and to get away from all of the german bs...

Just curious, did you drive the car this morning?

My truck's fuel gelled this morning and it would barely idle. Worse part is it did it after running fine for the first two miles. I imagine the general public will not be happy if their car takes a shit just because its cold out. Do you know if the cars have better fuel heaters to prevent fuel gelling?

I did drive it this morning, but my car sits in the garage, so starting this morning was not a problem. Obviously now it's sitting In the parking lot here at work so we will see how it starts / runs this afternoon when I head home.

Diesel Cruze never pays back vs it's gasser counterpart.

This article here focuses on the cruze specifically. But, it compares a base (LS) model to the diesel. If you compare the LTZ to the diesel, which the diesel is similarly equipped to, the price gap is not nearly as significant.

Oh well..... With the distance I drive everyday, I wanted something I could drive for 10 years without issue. I felt the diesel would out last the gasser and that was one of my reasons for purchasing it. The extra power is nice too.

The review pointed to an article of why diesel costs more than gas, and the only numbers they provided were that the tax is higher on diesels.

Quote:
Since then, diesel has been taxed more heavily than gasoline. Today, the federal excise tax on gasoline is $0.184/gallon. For diesel, it’s $0.244/gallon.
But I don't see how $0.06 extra tax accounts for an extra $0.50 or more difference. I seem to remember diesel becoming more expensive when ULSD came along.

Any updates? I've been considering one. I have a 100 mile a day commute.

The more I see these cars, the more I like. I have no idea why, either. A little off subject, but does anyone with a gasser cruze have any problems with it at all? We have quite a few customers with them and nothing but regular maintenance so far. I'm sort of maybe seeing about possibly looking at them.
