19.5" retreads?

Does anyone have any experience with retread tires? Im looking for a set of 285-70-19.5's. Where do I go to learn more about them. Where can they be purchased through? Can you pick tread design?

Imo retreads are not worth the savings. The cap can peel off causing major damage to the truck. Pony up the extra cash and buy new.

It is illegal to run them on the steer axle.

Check treadwright.com they have only two sizes for 19.5's but give you a couple options.

They explain there process on there site too. prices seem ok but its like 150 for 4 tires to ship from there to here.

I am not sold on retreads but I will be trying them for my off road rig cuase I want to know. If your going to DD them I would tend to be on the cautious side but medium/heavy duty trucks have been running them for years. I would think the failures might be more often than new tires but cant be all that bad if they can still be dot approved. Just carry a spare.

Considering the person cj65 quoted said "my boss" I'm going to assume it was commercial use.

I have retreads from treadwright.com on my trailblazer and love them. I have almost 4yrs on them and have lasted great. I have not had any issues with them and plan to order another set for them and my dually soon. We also have a set on our 11 cclb cummins at work and pull a 28ft suretrac mowing trailer everyday and have had no issues.
