Default 35 spline coupler heat treated?

Is a stock 35 spline coupler from a short shaft sm465 heat treated?

If not, I am good to weld it with a MIG with mild heat treating and a keyway to make a flange to adapt a Aux transmission.

If so, I need to find someone with a TIG.
