Default Car Trailer Stolen......Holland, MI

My 20' 2008 Load Trail car hauler was stolen over the week-end at my shop on the south side of Holland.

Red in color except the 2" receiver I welded on in the front for a winch mount and a few extra D-rings. Also has a battery mount at the front.

Please keep an eye out for it, thanks!

Sorry to hear about your trailer being stolen. I hope they find it.

I am wondering if others think that a lock would help. I use both of these on my trailer. Does anyone use something different? Better? I have to park it outside so what do you suggest?

I work for a company with 20+ towables. None are locked in secure buildings they are all in open accessible area's and we've never lost one. We chain them up and the more "desirable" trailers we have "custom" trailer balls locked into the tongue.

yup....

Had a lot of miles and good times with that trailer but they make new ones everyday I guess.

Wish we would have had it locked but live and learn I guess. We really have never had a problem in the 14 years we parked stuff there.

Lock trailers like Ft. Knox. I like the coupler locks like posted then cable the wheels together and chain it to something that can't be moved. Lock can be cut but if you use multiple types it makes it such a hassle they move on. To me the key to keeping anything isn't making it "unstealable" more just such a pain in the ass for the scum bag they give up.

Also for trailers that size, wheeling rigs, cars, trucks ect in extended storage. Put them on jack stands and then buy 4 cable locks and lock the jack stands to the rims. Now they need to cut 4 cables jack up said item and remove jack stands. That alone should make them think twice not to mention the may avoid it all together thinking its in disrepair.

My neighbor removes one wheel and put the trailer on a block that is too low to just pop another wheel on. (single axle alumininum sled trailer)

He's had a couple stolen and attempted to be scrapped, scrap yard would call the cops when dumbass thieves would roll in and try to scrap a shiny new trailer.

That sucks. I'll keep an eye out for it but I'm guessing that we both cover the same area pretty regularly.....
