6bt swap which trans

So story goes i have an 86 f250 diesel that i love. down side is modifying the idi seems pretty pointless when i can get more power from a slightly moddified cummins for the same price as rebuilding the stuff my idi needs.

so i am going 12v p-pump 6bt, have a good deal ligned up on the engine now i need to decide on a transmission, options are :

1) adapter plate to ford trans run the c6 for now and upgrade to an e40d later (electronics and building of the e40d seems a little pricey)

2) get the 47re with the engine and swap the entire dodge drivetrain.

what i like about option 2 is that the adapter late for the c6 is around $1000 and for that i can have a few really nice option parts in the dodge transmission.

option 3) is to swap in a zf5 to the turbo IDI for now so i get a little better gas milage and swap the cummins in later to work with the 5 speed.

what would you do for your tow rig?

I would probably stay with an auto for the ease of driving one.

I like to run 1994-1995 47RH trannies ... all hydro control's ...wire up pressure switches and your off and shifting od and lockup without the computer or harness

it iss an original 93 7.3L idi turbo engine. not the original 6.9L idi. so it has the stronger rods and bigger injectors and everything.

lol y dont you get along wiht automatics??? when i was young and dumb everything was manual. then i got more serious about rocks and the jeep is going auto, drag car got faster it went auto... lol it seems to be a trend

incase anyone was wondering... i ended up buying an 02 powerstroke. not ideal but for the price i couldn't pass it up
