Actually I think it's the m9. According to wiki there are several standard issue sidearms but I think that's the most common... I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

That beretta is one of the finest shooting 9mm out there, however they are big and the manual safety is a big no-no in my book

Make sure you buy an actual M9. It's just cooler. Don't let the "plastic" parts put you off. They're actually polymer coated metal to reduce the need for lubrication between metal on metal surfaces. I did swap out the trigger just because I like the feel of a full steel trigger more. I also swapped out the guide rod for a heavier stainless guide rod. The one that comes in it now is a plastic + shaped rod designed to shed some weight and it helps funnel dirt and debris out of the pistol as opposed to binding things up. Since I'm not in the desert I'm not too worried about that and prefer the heavier and more rigid stainless.
