Default Air Boats

Is anybody doing them?
I think it would be hoot on the ice and fun in the swamps.

Wait, you're telling me you can impregnate an airboat?

That's just mean.

My only experience with such animals is when a bud bought a motorized hang glider, crashed into an overpass first time out. Salvaged the motor and prop which he mounted to an orange coleman canoe. After figuring out he needed outriggers (high mounted motor, high center of gravity), F&G shut him down first time on open water. When it took the end of this finger off tuning it he stopped having fun with it. I have pics somewhere.

I have had worse ideas

haven't seen that style, those are pretty sweet. I'd just go river jet boat IMO.

but you couldn't go on land.

They race in <8" of water and turn on a dime. IIRC they go linke 120mph too.

We use them a lot in the industry I am in... Want to piss of people on the lake? Buy an airboat. You think they complain about jet ski's, an airboat will really draw the complaints.

You got that right. There was one running the Manistee for a while, incredibly loud. You could hear it for miles up and down the river valley.

Default Air Boats

We took our kids this year on a private ride in Florida and it was badass. The boat we were in went around 60 but this was the guys other boat with a big block. Holy hell they are loud but I would love to have one but don't know where you would use it around here.

Those are very loud machines.

Search and rescue had one out on Lake St Clair a few years ago when we were out in Muscamoot Bay. Its all you could hear until they stopped.

I was thinking more for the ice on Huron and St Clair.
We got ten years of long hard winters coming.

Loud is right...but would be a blast in the winter! When i was guiding turkey hunters in Florida we stayed at an airboat fishing lodge. A couple hours before daylight every morning, the airboats would start up and head out... talk about an alarm clock!

Alot of people run them on the saginaw bay for bow fishing. There is also a michigan based airboat club that has a poker run with airboats out there to.
