Not to get off subject, but does anyone know if I can buy a replacement key fob? I bought my truck a year ago and was in a rush to get to the guys bank that day before it closed to get lein off and he forgot extra keys with remote start fob on them. He said he would ship them so I figured no big deal. We'll that was a year ago and after a lot of texting and calling I still don't have one. I haven't really checked into it just wondering if it is possible or will I be buying a whole new unit?

Sorry I'm out of the game. Too old and fat to be crawling around under dash's any more You may be kind of stuck. Without doing it yourself your going to have a hard time finding a reputable place to do it for less than those quotes. You will see that mickey shorr price come down to $99.99 here in a week or two. They run that "special" most winters but by the time you get your bypass and whatever else they can think of it'll shoot back up to that $200 range. With the damage that can be done with an improper installation I would wait until I could pay a better shop to do it.

You can get a remote. You will need to find out what brand and model your unit is first.

I don't need a bypass if I can start my car with just a metal key right. I don't think my car key has a transponder in it.

Actually passlock 1(resistor) and passkey III(transponder) have it in the key but I think you will probably have Passlock II in the Vibe. Nothing in the key but it reads resistance as you turn the key. So you still need a bypass unless you want to permenantly bypass that security feature (which most shops wont do).

Ok. A few people I found on vibe forums insalled a remote starter on theirs and didn't buy any bypass and said all was good. Too many different ideas lol. Where could I find a place to just buy the parts to do it myself and how much beer would it take to be a Foreman to help during install lol

Your putting it in an 09? Check to see how much the factory one costs. I added one to my wife's 08 Patriot a few years ago. It was more or less plug and play, with the addition of adding the hood safety switch and tapping in to one of the coil pack wires. Took about an hour and a half to install, most of the time was taking the dash and steering column apart, pretty easy.

Im actually going to be putting one in a 99 grand tomorrow. After the transponder bypass, extra key, data bus interface, and the unit itself, parts are about $100. This is a DEI unit with two 1-way remotes.
I just looked up the 2009 Vue and it looks like will require a data bus module. The ignition is cranked via the bcm. A DB-ALL module should be able to crank and also operate the door locks as well. All though the data lines. The modules list for $129 but are going between $40-60 online. I'm sure Micky shores didn't include that in their quote. Expect an hour of added labor and probably retail price for that there.

whatever you do, don't get the ford factory remote start. You can start the car, but then if you unlock the car it turns off. Or if you open the hatch to load the groceries it turns off. Real handy little tool.....yeah

For real? I have never had any of those issues what so ever. Maybe a bad install. My factory remote start on my Fiesta is great. I had only one issue and it was because whomever installed it didn't do a good job wiring it up and it just pretty much quit.
I had a dealership under warranty redo the bad install and it works like a charm. Love the fact that my rear defrost kicks on too.

For real?

She has called the dealer multiple times and they told her it was supposed to be that way......WTF?

Of course now the car has 37,000 miles on it.

If you're in the general GR area, this is the only guy I would trust to do the install on my car. He has good prices and is right off the highway.
