Best Buy's warranty doesn't cover stolen/lost phones...

I'd hang out in best buy until the salesman that sold you the phone is working again, and rape him..... repeatedly.

Can you open the phone up? If so you can check the moisture sensors yourself, usually one on the battery and one nearby the battery compartment. Look like a white square with red stripes or x on it, if it's pure white or pure red it's been "triggered"

I got a tv from best buy and the warranty, tv stopped working. I got a new better tv. Free.
Now when I went in I had called the 1800# on the warranty form first, had the name of the person I had talked to on the phone. At first best buy only wanted to "pay" for some of my new tv. I then told the sales person about the phone call and the info I was given on the phone. He then asked who I had talked to, gave him her name and it all worked out. Not sure why but i guess it helps to have as much info as you can first, and names.
sorry about you phone.

btw I now buy all my electronics from as small and local a store as I can.

Grow a nasty beard and stop showering for a week.

Get a tan.

Go back to Best Buy and demand (in a middle eastern accent) that they replace your phone or 'Allah will wreak vengeance upon your store!'

Go home with new phone, shower and shave.

I really wish that this was a larger option, I hate best buy with a passion for the same lies i was told regarding warranties to get me to buy it as the OP. But since Circuit City went under theres really no true competition for them. Sears tried, but failed. Abc will never be on the same volume, and Mom and Pop stores would just be too costly for electronics to compete, I can't even think of any around here. Sad but true.

And besides all your guys's butthurt because someone told you how you come off from the otherside of the counter, my point was merely no one is granted access into a "special club" where you get more help/assistance by trying to point out how much money you spend/ they risk losing, instead you just come off like an entitled prick, and I don't mean that directly to you- anytime theres the slightest issue all anyone ever wants to talk about is how much money they spend here, its irrelevant either they can help you or they cant whining about things you've purchased or plan to purchase doesn't change the situation. This ESPECIALLY doesn't work at best buy where what you spend in a year there, someone just rang up in one transaction 5 minutes before you got there. And for the manager to straight up say "we don't need your business," that was either the biggest asshole bestbuy has ever hired- or you were coming off as irate/hostile/loud/douchy and he responded by getting you out of the store so there would be no scene and business could continue as usual. No one at store level gives a damn that you were lied to, sorry I had to be the one to break that news to you that the minimum wagers dont care about you and are just smiling and nodding until you walk away. Didn't think it was that big of a secret I think the bigger issue you have is that they mistrained one of their employees who then told you incorrect information about the coverage of a replacement plan thats probably through a 3rd party company and they have to get permission from them before they can repair/replace it, and that employee doesn't get scheduled enough hours if he doesn't sell a certain amount of warranties, as they're essentially completely profit.

And no Best buy does not work on commission but if they hit certain sales goals they do get bonuses, not to mention spiffs from manufacturers for selling their product.

Good, stick with it. As 90% of the people that say that are back in the next week or two, maybe if more people were like you the consumers would actually have a say in getting true customer service back. Bottom line is that the price point is not there to include amazing customer service, because all the consumers have PROVED all they want is cheap product. Corporate mandates that only so much customer service can be given as if you spend too much time with one customer than your other tasks don't get done other customers need help and theyd have to schedule more people and spend more money. There is no "customer service" in retail anymore, some stores are better than others, but mostly just more trampling over people to save 25 bucks on a tv. Theres a reason only big box stores are left, why ace and true value are so sparce now bc theres a home depot on every other corner, people are not willing to pay more for customer service and local knowledge. Yes you got effed, and i feel bad for you bc ive been there, in nearly the exact situation, but no one at store level at best buy is going to help you, maybe you'll get somewhere with a 1800 number or an email higher, but I doubt it as these store level managers are taking their cues from their district managers, if it was a cheaper item they might eat the cost, but its not. As far as the "stolen/lost" argument... did you buy protection for a specific reason? Do you feel it should be replaced for that specific reason? Then you just justified saying it was lost instead of lost in a 'lake' regardless of the fine print in the giant wad of legal language they give you with every warranty purchase.

And I wasn't kidding, enjoy your online shopping from now on, Amazon will return anything. Crutchfield has never been anything but helpful. Stop supporting the stores that like to bend you over without lube.

You still never told us what store you work at and what kind of awesome customer service you provide.

Having worked in retail I can say that you're clearly a shitbag employee who thinks he is entitled to make more than he does simply for showing up to work with a shitty attitude.

I dealt with many an upset customer throughout my "retail career" and never treated any of them like shit like you describe.

ok mine still has all the red x's and doesn't appear to have been completely wet. The biggest problem I'm having is they haven't even looked at my phone. It was in my otterbox and landed in the water just long enough to get a little wet. Because I wasn't " that guy" and told the truth, they won't even look at my phone. It could be as easy as replacing a very inexpensive sensor, but to them it doesn't matter because I told the truth. My phone still works most of the time it just randomly shuts itself off. If I'm not paying attention to it it could be off for hours and that's something I cannot have beings as I have kids and you never know when something will happen.

When I worked for circuit city I made $7.50 an hour. Very quickly I could not have given a fukc about how any customer was treated, and instead took every opportunity to ignore them and chat with friends that I worked with. Once the managers realized for $7.50 an hour I had next to 0 fucks to shed, they became increasingly shitty with me, so I found another job.

I was 20 and I was only there for 6-7 months. I never worked in retail ever again.

Why not just go to a different location and say your phone just randomly shuts off?

This is your best option and will likely get you a new phone.
