Default kalkaska - thanksgiving?

I am new to wheelin and going to be staying at a cabin about 15-20 min south of kalkaska for thanksgiving. wondering of any good trails around, nothin too difficult only have a 89 toy p/u with 31 mud terrains. even better if someone was around up there and wanted to play in the dirt. i know there are prolly a lot of 2 tracks up there but there are also going to be a lot of hunters. thanks

There is a ORV route trail you can run on that is right where 131 highway goes down to a two lane highway. Me and the wife took her liberty on it a few months ago. not hard trail but fun two track. But I don't think you can use it around hunting season. I think you can only use it at certain times of the day during gun season. Not sure if anyone else knows for sure?

Otherwise just run around on the seasonal roads

My family has a cabin on Starvation Lake which is in the area. If you can try find a map of the kalkaska orv trails. There right across the street from our cabin and one of the trails has a bowl with hills you can climb. You can get maps from DNR's website.

thanks unfortunaly i don't know if i will make it now. after saterdays 2 trackin in Gladwin/St Helen the truck wont stay in overdrive. thought it might be a vacum leak but it doesn't appear to be. if i can't get it fixed i may just have to take the daily driver up there. o well next time i guess
