*GUN PICS!* Messing with the Camera

Found my old Canon powerShot S3 IS and decided to play around with it. I am just now figuring out all the settings. I still have a LONG way to go before I can get it to take awesome photos though.

Anyway... This is my "I carried it in Iraq" collection.

Mossberg 590A1 with M7 Bayonet
Beretta M9 (with the actual grip panels off of the pistol I carried in Iraq)
Spikes Punisher lower/BCM 14.5" pinned upper (All it's missing is an ACOG TA31RCO-M150CP to be 100% complete)

I think my problem is the lighting. I need a dark room with a small lamp so I can control light levels and direction.

Can you break it down to AJ Hall style? I'd really like to learn this stuff but I don't have much of a background with photography.

if you need to learn f-stop, shutter, focal length, etc., start here:

http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/galle...s101_cll.shtml

to learn how to control these things on your camera, use the manual that came with the camera (or download the manual).

and then start experimenting. Then learn some more...

Thanks Andy. I have to find the manual for this camera. I know I have it around here somewhere.

I'm also experimenting with an editing program called gimp.

I was able to adjust the brightness and contrast of the pic of the Beretta M9.

Looks a bit better?

Also gave the same treatment to the collection photo:

Adjusted the saturation levels for the M9 photo to eliminate some of the yellowing:

Two that I got from my Dad.
The 1911 serial number shows it was made in 1917.
The Iver Johnson 32 was my Great grandfathers. I'm trying to date it with the serial number. until I get positive answers the ball park is late 1890s to 1905 range.
