Default d44 vacuum thing

i got an 85 power ram with a dana 44 up front but it has that vacuum actuator thing which of course went bad.
what do you guys do you bypass this CHEAPER the better its just my winter truck i dont really want to by a posilock cable
can i put a normal axle shaft in?
is there any way to make it engaged all the time?

I would assume you could slide the collar over and lock it in place somehow like on a jeep
With the jeeps you can move an e-clip on the disconnect housing to keep it locked in

slide the collar into the lock position, and tack weld it in place.
