Not being a doctor here, I think genetics may play into it. I think that we as a society are breeding away from "survival of the fittest". My own family come in to play when comparing to what would have happened 150 years ago. My wife would have died in childbirth without surgery. My daughter would not have survived. My daughter has mild alergies that she may or may not have survived. My grandson has worse alergies.

I wonder if the infant mortality of Amish is greater, resulting in a heartier survivor.

Could be. I got sick as a child and probably would have died without medical treatment. So did my son.

I do not get sick. I might get a fever once in a while, but it passes in a few hours. This only happens if I've been working long hours and my energy is low.

Never had any childhood diseases, and get a clean bill of health every year at my checkup.

Not bad for a 52 year old fat fukk.
