S'more

These are the LED lights i'm going to use for turn signals for street use.

Pretty damn bright.

Then just about got the heater done. Just have to install a fuse in the power wire and hook up the ground and put the face plate back on. I hooked it up to temp power and ground and it works kick ass.

Heater hoses

3 speed switch put in the dash.

Had a mishap with a rock last trip out. Ran my front spring hanger into a big one going pretty fast. bent the crap out of it and cracked the welds. So a BFH to get it back into shape and then reweld it and add some gussets. Thanks to Emily for doing the welding. I'm not super great at overhead or vertical up. Added gussets on both sides.

Big ham LOL

Ok, so have to get this fixed. After the hard roll in Canada, the mounts for the hydro ram were fubared.

They want 50 bucks per mount. I'm cheap. Went and bought a chunk of steel.

Then the machine shop went to work. Pretty cool. They are making 3 of them for me and one for themselves for a Skills USA competition project...or might be MITES, not sure. They have to turn in drawings, specs and a completed part. I'm going to put a clamp on both ends of the steering ram and one in the middle so it holds better.

This is the first test part. Turned out good. That's not the bolt I am using. That's what came out of the old ones. New ones are bigger, stronger and longer.

Here is the proud machinist Adam.

I am planning on welding them in this weekend. I want to have that and the windshield done before March 1 for the Rocks & Valleys run.

Ok, here we go.

How it was. I never liked how it was mounted anyway. Just side mounted to the tube. Only about a inch of contact area.

5 minutes into the project, the first injury. I know, put the guard on. Couldn't fit it in there to cut off the bolts because space was too tight. Had to take the guard off and the side handle to get in there. It bit me.

Cut the mounts off and started trying to figure out how to get 3 clamps on that tube. With the way the tube is bent, it wasn't possible. So I cut that tube off and went with a different design.

Getting ideas. 1/2 inch plate

Fitting it

Burning it in

Done. The bolts are almost too long. Not quite, but close. Might get different bolts.

Looks good. 1/2 inch plate may be a bit much but it turned out nice.

looks good, i had mine like that and after it got wormed up it started steering hard and it turned out the center clamp was pinching the cylinder and not letting the rod move freely. just an fyi if you have any problems.
