If we arent aloud then there should be signs like the other trails we've come across that say no motor vehicles. These trails on the national forest map say they are open to highway registered motor vehicles. Like route 9006 goes right through the middle of it i guess im just confused on the laws.

It's ok some people like to bitch because they feel entitled and Internet tough. In Newaygo ,Montcalm and Mecosta counties seasonal roads are poorly marked and even have some people that have claimed some roads as their own even tho they are clearly marked on a map. Just use caution and don't be an ass and you will stay off people's radar, but this time of year with hunting season ramping up your better off going north to Baldwin area from what I understand Tin Cup, Lincoln Hills trails and such are open year round. I could be wrong but your more than welcome to look it up.

Thank you for an honest answer without being rude. I am a newby and was just confused about some laws. But yeah i guess i never though about hunting season, im not into hunting. Do you happen to know if the marked trails on a national forest map are legal to go down?

Marked ones are, but as was said. It's hunting season. Unless you wanna find a stray round through your block.

http://apps.fs.fed.us/TravelAccess/

This is what i foound. you can evel click on the roads and trails to see there distance. I think all the little numbered trails we should be able to take our rigs down. Guess the only way to know would be to go there and see what we find. there seems to be a group of trails right by the hardy dam.

they've reopened the power lines west of Elm Street(nearest to dam hillside). This may well not be a new change, but new to me since this has been closed since about '80.
Not much use to me, but quads and bikes yes

Sorry, the road is Locust, running north/south to the west of Hardy. Lines to the west were open as of last year. Those heading to Hardy still closed. Walked dogs along the downriver trail and checked out the old hill climb on the west face. Very evident still since being closed over 30 years ago.

Ever take pine? Once you get up by woodsville theres alot of good legal trails that branch off, out by the prairie theres a decent mud trail, basswood is decent, whitecloud has a bunch of legal spots and the illegal parts are clearly marked.

we actually ran into this on a memorial trail ride a few years back some people we're pissed that we were driving on their "property" our trail guide (pat) explained to them that it was a seasonal rode and that we'd happily wait for the sheriff to get there to explain that to them.

Yup, I grew up on west Jefferson just past Brady lake. There is a seasonal road @ west Jefferson and 220th but the land owner over the last 25 years or so turned the road into part of his yard, it's on a map but you wouldn't know it was there if you didn't know better. I only know of 3 very short seasonal roads in that area that aren't complete blocked off or have someone that had claimed part of it as there own. Back in the 80's in that area was awesome almost like a free for all until consumers went all anal. My friends that still
Live up there tell me there are still roads north and west
Of 8 mile and west of the 131 exit @ Big Rapids, haven't been there myself but maybe after rifle season.

people need to stop trying to claim seasonal roads as their own.
