Have you considered a rag joint delete?

I'd bet that an XJ steering shaft U joint would work
I have done that to a FSJ (78 J20)

I never thought about that. I have a custom shaft now. S10 - scout due to having an s10 cab and interior. I actually might have all the parts to do this. Only concern is the pump shaft splines matching up. Could run a bolt through it I suppose.

Probably will work, they use a Saginaw box dont they?

Yes they do use GM/Saginaw boxes

Made me a rag joint delete universal joint. Works great!
