Default saws-all xj build

Backstory (get comfy)
So 14 months ago my roommate bought a lifted 87 xj from someone on this sight (6" long arm all sort of nicely built stuff). We went down to bundy hill with a few guys from the board to test what it could do and stretch the new toy's legs. Well me, not having a jeep , decided to take my roommates raptor and try to crawl with it in the middle of a group of jeeps and a toyota truggy. Had a blast but decided then and there that i needed my own jeep. Enter 1995 2 door 4 cyl 1995 xj. Most of you have seen this rig at this point it has been a hell of a year and a budget build.
Now my xj: step1> no lift, ugly fender cut and 32" all terrains. had some fun with it up at rocks and valleys club challenge 2012. February tires decided they hated life (dry rotted and started shredding). bought a set of 235/75/15 as at this time the jeep also became my daily. ugly fender cut and all.
Step 2> cut more metal. In april roommate and i got bored (not usually a good situation) so the back of the roof got chopped, i borrowed a set of 33" goodyear duratracks, and went and had even more fun. and this was when i decided the game needed to be increased for the summer.

Step 3> more cutting more lift. So with ground clearance being a major issue on no lift and 33's i decided to pony up some serious cash and finally lift it. $350 later i was up 3" lol. i know breaking the bank. Also bought a used set of 35's off of here (generic mud terrains). More cutting more folding and triming to get ready for the 2013 club challenge. Sadly with the turnout of the club challenege i didnt get to run it but we had a hell of a few weekends of wheeling. also installed fuel cell since i cracked my stock tank. While up at R&V i bent the hell out of my steering, almost rolled a chopped top jeep with no cage, and thought it was time to make the budget build a little safer (also had some friends influence)
Step> 4 (current) So a friend and i (not to be named since my prep work on the cage sucked) put a roll bar in her. i cut the top cleaner all in prep for pit trash. some how she survived and been rocking her hard. more pics will come when i take more this week :P out of town and got bored in the hotel lol.

So now after beating the xj into the ground a couple friends and i decided a buggy build was in store. (i have an xj buggy will be building this is another one for the team that we hope workks)

So here are the pics of what we've started with. Revision 1 ended quick with learning how to run solid works. Rev 2
nope that doesnt work either

Rev 3

Didn't have time to get started on Rev. 4 so played around with axles and just an idea of what it'll look like today

And not big enough (plus left out critical details like bend radius and proper tubing size). So moving on

Rev 4 (coming soon)

Plans are 44/9" staying light as possible, 37" tires, gearing and suspension design all yet to be figured out. suggestions are greatly appreciated. just trying to have some fun and build something new and cool :) should be a fun experiment for the winter.

more pics to come soon. ill update this post for the story i already have with pics

Johnny

(big thanks to friends for inspiration and help, want to give credit but the shortcuts taken on the xj were all my faultt and dont want to ruin anyone elses reputation)

x2. what I came to the conclusion of.

If/when I buy a buggy, I'll probably buy a chassis then do some other mods to make it mine.

time frame: as long as it takes
budget: as cheap as possible without taking short cuts. using parts i have laying around, and waiting for the right deals. if it drives by the end of next summer i will be ecstatic.

Lets approach it this way

parts i have:
44/60 (4.56's detroit in the 60)
2.0L with auto trans, welded front diff, manual valve body, shift kit, bullet shifter
seat
steering wheel
steering shaft
35" tires (16" wheels)
pedals (have them from my sandrail)
fuel cell
fuel pump
radiator
trans cooler

needed: majors:
hydro steering stuff
links
coils or air shocks
tube for chassis
driveshafts
fuel lines

i know im missing a lot. the pint is more to do it and try and have fun. have never been a "just buy it" guy.

also i know it is vastly different but i have a lot of drag chassis experience. so i figured y not try it. worst case the geometry is jacked up and i end up using the parts in a different chassis. but it will be worth it for me to learn and have the fun time of building it.

why all the fancy design on the computer. just go in the shop and start bending shit. do you have a bender with dies, notcher, welder, plasma cutter yet? don't forget to add those in.
