Default Impact wrench and air compressor

I have an IR 2135 TiMAX 1/2" impact wrench hooked up to a Craftsman 20 gallon 150psi max air compressor. I feel like my gun isn't performing to it's full potential. I usually just turn the compressor to the most psi it will go to.

Is there anyway I can make my wrench perform better? It is an awesome gun, but I feel like it should be more powerful.

Maybe high flow air fittings? I don't know. Any help would be much appreciated.

If your talking about adding oil to my gun, I just use transmission oil and add it every time I use it.

Look at your air line and fitting sizes.

It may or may not help you, butmy gun seemed low on power awhile back. I tightened all the bolts that hold the case halves together (nose to body), works strong as ever.

Hmm....I have seen this happen on other types of air tools like an air hammer, but never thought it could happen to an impact.

I'll check the bolts when I get home.

And I actually think it's a 33 gallon, not a 20. Just going off the top of my head right now.

You might try to lay some new pipe in your garage.

Yeah, but that only matters if he's running it continuously.

If its the compressor, then it would run fine when running off the tank, and then low on power when the compressor is running.

If its the line/fittings, then it would run low on power all the time.

You might be limited also by the flow rate of the regulator itself that is usually on the compressor.

Just a little update. I had a swivel air connector on my impact wrench. It seemed a little loose at the swivel, so I took it off and now it's just the male 1/4" connector. Hooking it up to my air compressor and running it at 90psi, I can say it runs much better and seems a lot more powerful. I just ordered a high flow air connector so hopefully that will help it out a little more.

Did you at least try to lay some new pipe (air pipe) in your garage?

If you are using 1/4" air hose step up to 3/8".

Flow is the name of the game.
