Default 87 yfm200 moto4 issues

While i was at the dunes saturday, i experienced some problems.

had a hard time getting it to idle without choke on.
would stumble and want to fall on its face at the 2-3 highest gears
would randomly stall out, but start again like there wasn't an issue for some reason

at one point it wouldn't start, but then finally got started on full choke.

plug looks good from what I can tell. did just fine on the flat, but lost a lot of power on the hills.

buying a carb kit. I know the o-rings are swelled, and I'm currently not rocking one on the choke.

I was having issues at the end when trying to get it off full choke, when I'd give it gas it would bog instead of rev. This makes me think it was a lean condition.

I already know it needs a hone and rering, 80psi compression test... hoping I can just hone instead of bore over.

wanted to see if this was the correct train of thought. This is my first time really messing with a small engine. any other tips/tricks/ideas to point me in the right direction are appreciated

Sounds like you need to start at a rebuild first...80psi is too low and could/would cause all your problems. Report back after the rebuild

Sounds like a leaking carb / intake gasket. I would start by replacing the $5 / 10 minute fix things before rebuilding the entire motor. But then again, I am not always rong.

I'm going to get the compression up first. Then fix the starter because I'm sick of pull starting and it's gonna be for the old lady, and rebuild the carb for peace of mind.
