I love some of the verbiage in this thread. "I quit smoking but have been using an e-cig for a few months now."

That's like saying you don't have high blood pressure because you take medication.

looking at it as nothing more than an alternative to smoking with a goal of quitting all together. if quitting was just that easy, i'd just drop them altogether but, it's not. so, we do what we have to to get where we want to be.

I think your analogy is wrong.

I think based on the unknowns of the chemicals they are still inhaling into their lungs I think ti would go more like this.

I quit using meth and heroin, I switched to cocaine.

agreed that there are a bunch of unknowns in using the e cig because it's fairly new and there has not been time for long term studies. but, i have not been able to find anything that proves it's an unsafe alternative to normal cigarettes.

also, i don't plan on using it forever. just long enough to where i feel i'm able to live cigarette free. to each their own, i'm good with whatever works for me.

Thanks Joe. I'm going to recommend this to my mom.

If you really wanted to just quit, you'd quit. I went through this BS thought process when I first wanted to lose weight. I did Atkin's because I still wanted to be a lazy fukc . While I did drop 60 pounds on that, it still wasn't the solution. I had to make the lifestyle change into what I am now to lose more weight and get in great shape.

Without sounding too motivational posterish, the only hurdle in quitting is you. It can be easy if you want it to be easy, or it can be hard if you want to dodge doing what you need to do.

I smoked for a few years, and quit cold turkey. Your physical addiction is gone after 24-48 hours or something like that. It's the mental addiction that sticks around. Toothpicks and chewing gum helps.

I won't argue with this. Just make it work, even if that takes using the e-cigs for a while. My comment was directed more towards those who quit smoking but start chewing instead, or quit smoking and plan on e-smoking for forever, etc.

hopefully your lifestyle changes worked for you so you don't feel guilty about beginning to achieve your goal "the easy way". if i could drop a few pounds just by being lazy as fukc , that would be awesome and i would be totally ok with it and i only weigh 201.

i understand it's all in my head and the strong determination thing. but, this nearly 30 year habit i have found to be the most difficult thing ever to change in my life so i am doing things i feel works for me. as far as MY quitting smoking is concerned, i could not give a shit less what anybody else thinks about how i'm doing it, i'm just sharing what is working for me at this time.

any life changing decisions are not easy and nobody is the same. so, this is working for me for now and i hope it continues to work.

chewing gum did nothing but give me good breath and a headache after a few hours.

i would think a gallon would last 10+ years and from what i understand it does have a shelf life of about two years.
then again, i'm new to all of this so i really don't know what i'm talking about.

I have really had no cravings for an analog cigarette since I switched to the e-cigarette.
