Default Project Vangina Campervan/Tow rig

So I needed a new tow rig pretty bad. I was getting tired of borrowing a company truck even though dad didn't really care. But I dont really want to drive a fullsize everyday. So I came up with some requirments, cause I want to be able to camp and wheel. But also haul 4 people in seat belts safely. Sleep 2 guys in seperate beds or but also have room for kids.

And so the Van was born. I will have to be a little careful not having 4 wheel drive when getting in and out of some parks in the winter but some sacrafices had to be made.

I picked up a 2001 Ford E-350 15 passanger church van with 100k miles and a 5.4 liter motor for $2800.

I was pretty hesitant at first. Cause lets face it. Who really has a goal of buying a big ass van.

First things first was the interior. Gutted the interior of all the seats. And started laying down a new floor.

Add some window tint and lose the running boards

So next was to fix some of the small bubbles of rust that turned out to be much larger than I had expected. This was my first try welding sheet metal so be nice.

Its getting there. A little more grinding and some more welding.

I hate sanding.

Its far from perfect but its good enough for some monster liner. Oh and a 2 inch lift front and rear.

I fiberglassed the holes in the front bumper from the faded out plastic piece. The bumpers look much better now.

So along with the new 8000 lbs tow hitch and a trailer brake controller, I ordered up some new seats and found an old motorhome with swivel seat bases at the junk yard. I still have to sand em down and give em a new coat of paint but they are all drilled and mounted with the new seats.

The drivers seat is done also. Just dont have any pics.

Oh and some new technology for monitoring.

Kind of excited to see this done. Did you look into the school bus route before deciding on a van?

I love the versatility of a van. I have been tossing around the idea buying one. I like the way you going with yours.

I did not look at a school bus but I did look at the old casino busses and such.

I picked up a self contained toilet to hide in one of the cabinets in back and planning on 2 seperate beds/couches on the side that can be used as one big bed when you want to get cozy.

He is correct. Blue tooth OBD reader and the "torque" app. Can connect to phone or tablet. Run diagnostics and reset codes.

Any particular Bluetooth OBD reader? There are tons on fleabay... I was thinking of getting a similar setup for my diesel, but don't know if one is better than another...
