Default Slab Wood from the Amish

Anyone buy and burn this? When I can, I bring 2 bundles home. 1 bundle cost $20 bucks and it is about 2.5 cord..$8 a cord...not bad.

I don't buy it but see it all the time. Haven't ever saw a bundle that's 2.5 cord. How are you lifting that? Hauling it on a goose neck?

We get a pickup load at a time for the campfires.
$15 per load from the sawmill on M-66 North of Greenville about 15 miles.
It's better to buy a load and let it dry awhile tho.
I'll get a load this fall for spring fires.
If I burn it right away I usually get a fire going to keep the slabwood going.

I have used a few times. Burns too fast for home use IMO. I have since stuck to regular firewood.
For use in bonfires, it works great tho!

My father-in-law uses it up at his cabin.

I hate this phrasing.

Q: Where do you buy slab wood?

A: From the Amish.

Q: Where do you go to have your computer repaired?

A: I take it to the Hindus.

Q: Where do you have your vehicle repaired.

A: I have a Christian guy work on it.

Maybe it's just because I come from an area and now live in another area that's heavily populated with Amish people. You can't just go to an Amish guy's house to buy slab wood, you have to go to a guy's place that has a sawmill.

Sawmill in Gladwin on 18. I pay $7, load as much as I can. Burns quick, but best to let it season.

I disagree, you can stop at any Amish house and ask where to buy slab wood. They will then give you directions to the guy who sells it if anyone. Not every Amish guy sells it but if available they know where to send you. Much different than your analogies.

I get my slab wood from Metowski's lumber in Boyne city. Big bale of wood for 20 bucks, they load. I used it to heat my garage last winter and like others said it burnt hot and quick. I was loading the stove a few times a night.

I get it outside Mio, when I go visit my mother in Luzerne I bring some home. Yes it burns fast, but I'm only out in the garage 3-4 hours a night so no big problem loading it 2-3 times.
