Their company, their rules. Dont patronize them then. If people wouldn't have thrown a shit storm at them about open carry, I dont believe this would have even been an issue (both open carry people and the anti's).

Did you guys actually read the article? They are simply letting the public know that they are not actively encouraging open carry in their stores and do not want to be the "hosts" of the next open carry get together, including the unofficial gun-owners "Starbucks Appreciation Days". The CEO stated that they were unwillingly thrust into this issue, and they would like to quietly go back to making over priced coffee for yuppies. Armed patrons will not be turned away.

I did. They changed their position from neutral, to asking customers not to bring guns into their stores.

I do agree that the open carry and the anti-gun activists are to blame, probably the open carry more in this case.

I've never used Starbucks products but it's a shame that a company ends up in the middle of a political shitstorm for having a gun policy that follows local govt. law.

The open carry "hey I am a attention whore" crowd is really starting to bother me. I wonder how many of them open carry on the days they don't have there camcorder with them and are trying to make a scene at the local shopping center

I agree with this statement when it comes to the attention whores. Unfortunately they are not doing any favors for Joe Blow average citizen that prefers open carry for whatever reason. I have seen a few guys around this area open carrying pistols with a typical hip holster. They have never made any sort of spectacle out of it, never a "hey, I'm cool cause I have a gun" swagger. Those are the guys that could help the open carry issue.

Yes this. When I heard the headline this morning I was bummed because I like my Moca once in a while. But they said they would not turn anyone away even if they were open carrying. They did not BAN guns, they just don't want to be the platform for either side.
