Holstein steers for private slaughter. We have had this guy since he was a couple days old.
Bought from local dairy farmer as bull calf, my wife and daughters bucket feed from one week old. They are steers, so they have been castrated by banding. He is approximately 22 months old, and weighs about 1200 lbs. As a guess. He has been fed oats and ground ear corn, along with hay, grass and corn stalks recently. They have never been feed any growth hormones, or digestive feed inhibitors of any kind.
We can arrange to deliver him to Jones farm market or Pinkney hill in Saranac for custom slaughter. These certified custom slaughter facilities are within two miles of our home.
We recently had one slaughtered and it cost $284.00 for the slaughter cost, that cost included the $40 dollar kill fee. Also may be able to arrange purchase of a half, or you could arrange to split the cost and cow in half with a friend or neighbor.

Approx 1200 lbs x 1.20 =$1440
1200 x .60 = hanging weight (720) approx hanging weight x $.38 slaughter cost per pound, estimated slaughter costs =$273.60
Kill fee equals $40.00 divided by two for a half
Investment into slaughtered cow, $1,753.60 Divided by two for arranged half. $876.80
$1,713.60 / (720lbs) hanging weight = $2.38 per lbs of meet.
You can't buy cheap hamburger for that amount check your local ads at grocery stores. And you get T bone steak, Porter House, Sizzler, Round Steak, Roast, and Burger
These are approx, cost for an estimate based on assumed weight. Actual hanging weight of cow will be stated on form from meat market. That weight will be used to calculate the live weight of the steer, which will determine the payment to me for the cow. The slaughter cost will be paid direct to Jones or Pinkney.

Call six 1 six 292 nine six five three

I'm looking forward to eating him! It's looking like I will be home the beginning of December. If I need to get the meat before that I will figure something out.

Ok, I have a date set for October 28th this coming Tuesday, I have his brother coming right behind him, looks like he will fill out in three more weeks,

If Chad wants the one half in mid December, is any one looking for the other half????

It is 14 days after the Kill date that they hang for grade A, so if he gets lined up for mid November it would be late November early December for pick up at the processor.
